It’s the Little Things That Make You Happy

November 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You know what is making me happy right now? Annie’s Goddess dressing. It’s so good I use my finger and tongue to clean up every last drop. That sounds dirtier than I meant it to. Let’s just say no one but me should use my bottle and not just because I won’t share. I use the aforementioned finger to clean the bottle neck which is rather disgusting but I don’t care. Get your own damn bottle! When I think no one is looking I lick whatever food vessel has even a hint of dressing that didn’t adhere properly to my salad greens. And, speaking of green, do not under any circumstances think the GREEN Goddess version is an acceptable substitute. It tastes and looks like crap. But the regular Goddes? Oh my, if its’s wrong to love a dressing this much I don’t want to be right.

In other news, I’m quietly thrilled that Barrack Obama is our 44th president. At least I think that’s the number. My mom used that phrase at least three times when she called me last night to talk about the election. “Barrack Obama is our 44th president,” she said thrice. I could check her facts but she’s my mother, people, so we’re going with it. I’m “quietly” thrilled because you’ve got to wonder how anyone can do well when you take over a job from a guy who himself took over a budget surplus, low crime, lots of jobs and no war and over eight years ran each item and more into the crapper.

One more thing about politics and I’m moving on. The stupid Prop 102 passed in Arizona. That’s the gay marriage thing again. This a bad idea and a distraction from real issues. It just makes me want to charge around shouting profanity at the absolute douche bags who voted for it (not by an overwhelming majority, I might add. It barely squeaked by). But I don’t want to end on a bad note after starting out with Annie’s Goddess dressing.

Today outside the library when I was coming to work I chatted with a nice old lady in a “Jesus is the way” t-shirt. She told me she had arthritis but was thankful that she could still walk. The whole conversation, the sunny sunshine and listening to “Asimbonanga” from a CD I brought back from Africa put me in a good mood. Plus, it’s early release day so I may have some good stories from the land of the library soon!
